ということで、始めました。UCGOはそのまま継続。EQ2は今度の課金のタイミングでさようならする予定です。
VANGUARDはEQ1を開発した初期メンバーが集まって作った会社で開発されたネットゲーです。EQ1は今でこそ過疎気味で、(個人的意見として)GoDあたりからおかしな方向になっていったわけですが、初期3島はバランス、ストーリー、クエストの深さ、mob配置、マッピングが素敵でした。それだけでも期待しちゃいます。そして、開発親分がインタビューで「EQと思ってもらって結構！」という発言。期待度MAXです。βは結局あたりませんでしたが、現在β5になって発売も1/30と発表。下にも書きましたが、pre-orderした人に参加権が配られています。openにして広告しないところが強気ですね。それだけの自信作なのでしょう。思いっきり期待しちゃいます。
ということでlog in。休み休みのplayですが、かなり楽しめました。
さて、何を作ろうか。classはどうしよう。raceは何にしよう。これを考えているときが一番楽しい時間です。
classの趣味としては、1)pet class caster、2)rog、3)Mnkというところ。raceは、人外に惹かれます。犬はThestraとKojanに各1種で合計2種と猫はQaliaに1種。このあたりから攻めて行きたいところです。
一番の候補のNec犬をとりあえず作成。ちなみにNecはThestra島の犬、Vulmaneしかなれませんでした。log inします。
第一印象は、人が着る服は犬に似合わない。犬は靴を履いたらかわいいです。Necのいやらしさがありません。w
英語mmoをやるのは久しぶりということもあり、とまどいながらもquestをこなしていきます。サブパソコンでは、web辞書が大活躍。なんとかレベル4になってpet召還します。pet TUEEEEEEEEEE!!可愛くないのがあれですが、EQのNecを思い出す強さ。かなり面白そうな印象です。とりあえずレベル5まで育てて、初期outpostから村に移動して終了。
次に気になっているのは犬Mnk。これはKojan島の犬ができます。
Kojanの犬、Rakiは背丈が小さめ。これが異常にかわいい。仕草がらぶりぃ。殴られてふら付く姿がとてもとてもいとおしくなります。Monkをすると、一生懸命殴ってる姿が可愛くて仕方がありません。
Rakiの初期エリアはHalf Elfと同じため、かなり混雑していました。初期エリアで4まで育成して、都市のある南へ移動しますと、そこには樹上都市Ca'ial Brael。EQのklethinを思い出しますが、広さとしては、その10倍くらい。イメージ的には東京ドームの5倍くらいでしょうか。通らばリーチ根拠なし
BGMはなんとも神秘的かつやさしい歌声。いやされます。そして、樹上都市の定番の迷子。迷子skillが図らずとも上がってしまう場所なのに巨大な樹上都市にうっとり。余所見をするとどこがどこだかわからなくなり撃沈。人もそこそこいるようで、/shoutで会話がなされています。質問、回答、雑談、チラシの裏等々。多かったのは、EQの話。やはりみんな、EQの世界をもう一度味わいたいと思っているようです。
犬mnkはレベルを8まで上げてみました。遠出をしてデスペナのテストをしたりしましたが、そこそこ強いようです。
trade skillにも挑戦。いずれは船大工を夢見ているので、Artificerを選択。詳しいと言うか正式な手順は謎のままですが、なんとか生産成功。EQ2ほど面倒くさくなく、それでいて退屈しないシステムという印象。
さて、続いて猫。やれるclassからはrogを選択してlog inしてみると。。。NPCだかMobだか、猫の大群が押し寄せてきて瞬殺されました。w
聞いてみるとどうやらバグ満開のようで、蘇生場には生まれたばかりの猫が大量にいます。そしてshoutが飛び交い、どのmobならやれるのか情報交換がされています。おかしかったのですが、他のキャラを作ってみようとしてlogout。
翌日、popしてみましたが、前日に新人を虐殺していた猫の軍団はnonKoSになったものの、そこらじゅうのmobを殺しまくってました。そして、殺戮可能なはずのレベル1mobがやたら強くて何もできず。w
さて、他の気になるclassをやってみましょう。ということで、通称血メイジ、bloodmageをやってみます。これはDarkElfで作成。
このあたりになると、名前を考えることができなくなってきます。というか、これを書いている時点で付けた名前を忘れたのは秘密にしておいてください。
DarkElfはQalia島に生息。初期エリアは、DElfのみが生息しています。クエストを淡々とこなしてみますが、血メイジの印象は、Mnkのhealer板というところ。初期装備は包帯というかバンテージでMnkと一緒で、攻撃はHtHが上がっていきます。一応healerに分類されていますが、どんなclassになるんでしょうか。育ててみたい気がしました。
で、レベル4になったところで街に移動。DElfは、やっぱり地下都市を築いていました
これがまたクソ重さが尋常じゃありません。コマ送りです。そんなに人が多いわけじゃないと思うのですが、なにかあるのでしょうか。。。
ちょっと不満に感じたのが、おどろおどろしさが足りないところ。EQでのDElfの故郷とはかけ離れていました。残念。
ここはmobのレベルがまだ調整中なのでしょうか。mobのレベルが2からいきなり7になっていて、レベル4あたりだとちょうどいいのが見当たらず。。。探し方が悪かったのかなぁ。
続いてやってみたいraceはorcかgob。とりあえずorcでrngを作成。
始まると、そこはいきなり奴隷船。一発目のクエストが「slaverをぬっ殺して鍵を強奪して、slaveを連れて逃げろ」でした。自分が置かれている状況を理解するまで3分。ストーリーすごすぎ。
で、ここは初期クエストがぶっ壊れています。UIもぶっ壊れました。そこらのmobを殺して、レベル4にして本拠地を目指します。とりあえず海岸で蟹食ってレベル4abillityを買ってから移動してみるとそこは砦。NPCもPCもほとんどいません。venderも少ないわけで。。。初期クエストが壊れているとダメですなぁ。
そしてClrを2種。まずはDwfをやってみます。
Dwfの初期エリアは雪景色。やたら糞重いエリアでラグりまくり。本拠地に移動する前にあきらめますた。
続いて人型Mordebiで作成。
初期エリアはなんと山の頂上。山といってもそんじょそこらの山ではありません。断崖絶壁の上で、イメージ的にはマチュピチュ。ここも初期クエストのぶっこわれがありましたが、orcと違って他のクエストができたので、そんなに問題ないかな。
Mordebiが本拠地とするのは、Khalという港町。ここに造船所があるのですが、やたらにでかい。船着場もでかい。河の下を通る海底トンネルもあってすごい。
そして巨大な船着場から初期エリアを眺めると、巨大な岩山に向かって急な坂道が一本見え、雲の中に消えています。とにかく感動的です。
最後にHarfｌingを作成。クラスはもうどうでもよくなってきてDru作成。思い返してみると今までDruはやっていません。さて、どんなclassなんだろう?とwikiを見てみると、vanguardのDruはhealerではなくcasterに分類されていました。調べてみるとpet召還ができるような話になっています。気になり始めました。
ところが初期クエストで早くもrera mobが必要らしく、見当たりません。。。ということでタイムアップ。
第一印象ですが、システムはWoW、ストーリーやゲームの仕組みはEQ。マゾさもEQ並みなんでしょう。疼きます。
以前はEQのシステムがMMORPGのスタンダードになっていたように、今はWoWが業界スタンダードシステムなのかな。WoWはほとんどやっていませんが、確かに使いやすかった。
そして、EQらしさは良くも悪くも、そこかしこに出ていました。
素直に楽しいです。
そして、世界が素敵です。
風景、世界観、ストーリー、Mob配置はもちろん、高低差を最大限に生かしたmap。race、classの多彩さ。制限と可能性。考えられることが全て詰め込んであります。まだ数時間しかやっていませんが、長く続けたいtitleです。
船大工になって、船を建造して、航海に出るまでは続けよう。そう思いました。大航海時代Onlineは挫折しましたが。
で、一番EQらしいと言えるNeverQuest。1/30にサービス開始の発表がありましたから、開発スタッフは死んでいることでしょう。/bugと/yellを送りまくるのでがんばってくださいまし。
さて、どのclass、raceをやろうかな。楽しみで仕方がありません。

Paul,I agree with you. There is something very satisfying in crossing off items on a goal list or ‘to-do’ list. It helps me feel like I’m gaining momentum after completing 2-3 itmes. There is no substitute for a supportive wife. When she is in your corner, you can’t lose. And when she has that skill to give you a kick in the ass, yet not be nagging, it can be magic motivation. Well, that still didn’t fix it. The UUID still changed. What finally fixed it was running the following after updating fstab and resume with the correct UUID:sudo update-initramfs -u

I have taken notice that in cameras, special sensors help to maintain focus automatically. The actual sensors regarding some surveillance cameras change in in the area of contrast, while others use a beam of infra-red (IR) light, especially in low lumination. Higher spec cameras from time to time use a mixture of both methods and could have Face Priority AF where the photographic camera can ‘See’ the face while keeping focused only in that. I will be completing my resuce diver course since I was called into work during the last course of the season last year. I missed the open water portion of the course. Actually I think each individual case is different. I personally believe that parents often behave in a selfish way. There are shocking stories of how they treat their daughter in law. I have heard stories of adult children treating their parents badly but in the cases I know the parents are getting the taste of their own medicine. When it comes to cases I have heard, I have heard more cases of parents ill treating their son’s wife.

Thanks for the thoughtful and necessary post. This is something I think about a lot, and it’s a core issue in the creative nonfiction right now–but is a little different when we’re writing about our kids, who so often can’t defend themselves–can’t even read. I had second thoughts when mentioning all the pooping that surrounded Mbot’s birthday party, and still do. I do try to be sensitive and respectful, because my relationship with them is way more important than any story. Sometimes I probably fail. As they grow older, this becomes more of an issue. My advice would be to start off with an electric guitar. You can play the same kinds of things on an electric as you would on an acoustic but as well as this you’ll also be able to play lead guitar. In general, an electric guitar is normally easier to play than an acoustic because the strings are closer to the fretboard. Another advantage of an electric is you can vary how loud it is so people are less likely to hear how bad you sound when you start out (don’t worry we’ve all been there!) wheras an acoustic is going to be very loud. But bear in mind with an electric you’ll need to buy an amp as well.Hope that helps a bit. Have fun learning!

Now that I think back to it, even I’m not sure exactly what tipped me off that it was a girl robot but I remember that it struck me SO DAMN HARD when I first saw her, it broke my immersion. I even forced myself not to think about it and go back to believing they were all genderless, but it just kept hitting me over and over. Maybe if I get time, I’ll play it again and try to deconstruct it further, see if it happens again or if I was mistaken about it.
